Your Blog Author's Bio: Nisha V. Fontaine (nee Jagtiani)

After relocating from San Antonio, Texas to Buffalo, New York in January 2010, I joined the boutique U.S. immigration law firm of Serotte Reich Wilson, LLP as an Associate Attorney. While I have a diverse practice area, a good portion of my practice revolves around family-based immigration issues, whether it be the initial application for a green card, re-entry permits, naturalization applications, etc. I have written appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Office and have represented clients in immigration court.

Family-based immigration holds a special place in my heart because of past immigration experiences with my own family – I myself have been in my client’s shoes – placing all our hopes in our family immigration attorney’s hands, trusting their advice, relying upon them to keep us informed and help us make the best decisions. My background allows me to empathize with my client’s needs and ambitions to keep their families together and to understand their desire for a better life for themselves and their children. For some of my clients, I am able to offer an additional service to them – the ability to converse in Hindi to ensure that they properly understand their options and our recommended case strategy.
